Estate planning is at the core of what we do, but we are expected to provide input (particularly from a tax perspective) on anything involving accumulation, preservation, or transmission of wealth. In my view “private wealth” and “trusts and estates” are distinct practice areas despite some overlap in services.

No MBA. I've seen someone jump to PE straight away, no IB. Seen a few people become management consultants and one jumped then to PE. To say it's a "unicorn outcome" is a bit harsh imo. Very few people have the time / inclination to make that jump. You'd generally be going down to the bottom arse end of IB.

Coming from a v10 firm, in my lateral interviews with lower ranked firms, the questions were usually softball questions with most of the interview time offered for me to ask questions.
